Passover, which began this week, is a celebration of how God delivered the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. Our Lord Jesus taught His disciples (that’s us!) about communion before He was to be delivered up to be crucified for the sins of the world. This is what Good Friday represents.
“And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.” Luke 22:19-20
In light of the current state of affairs, communion has extraordinary meaning for us all this year. We need to REMEMBER what the shed blood of Jesus accomplished for us: FREEDOM!! Freedom from the curse of the law; freedom from every deadly virus, tormenting fear and painful lack. Romans 8:2 says, “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made us FREE from the law of sin and death.” Also attached, check out the Church on the Run devotional where Mylon and his son-in-law, Peter Furler, discuss this truth!
REJOICE knowing that in JESUS’ death, burial and resurrection, we already have the VICTORY! When we stay in FAITH, victory is guaranteed!
