We just returned home from filming On the Road to Freedom in one of our most gorgeous locations yet in Mexico. Thank you for your faithful prayers, God answered them! (Please watch this special re-cap video) We also celebrated 25 years of Holy Matrimony and reminisced about special memories. One moment in particular happened when we attended Elvis Week in Memphis, TN. Elvis’ estate asked Mylon to come speak to all the fans and tell his story about how he met Elvis and share his autobiography, Without Him. He gave interviews all day for local TV and on Elvis XM Radio. It turned out to be a really fun day and special memory for us. (SEE pics below.)
When we walked through Memphis’ historic downtown and had a private tour of the legendary Graceland mansion, we were amazed at the talent of those who learned how to perfectly imitate Elvis. Have you ever attended a show featuring a celebrity impersonator? Professional impersonators have mastered mimicking the actions, behaviors and look of a famous entertainer. Nowadays, because of the social media phenomenon, so many are trying to imitate their favorite movie star, musician or influencer. But for those of us who are children of our Heavenly Father, we’re called to IMITATE GOD.
Ephesians 5:1 AMPC says, “Therefore BE IMITATORS OF GOD [COPY HIM and follow His example], as well-beloved children [imitate their father].” I’m sure at one time or another you’ve witnessed a small child lovingly copy the behaviors of a parent. How do we imitate God? Ephesians 5:2 explains, “Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.” (NLT) To imitate our Father, our words, actions and reactions must ALL be rooted and grounded in LOVE. (Ephesians 3:17)
One of the ways we come up higher in this area, is to have faith mentors & elders in our life we can glean from. Our parents in the faith, Kenneth and Gloria Copeland and also our Pastors, George & Terri Pearsons, have been holy examples that proved vital to our victory. Paul said in First Corinthians 11:1, “Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.” We are to follow spiritual leaders ONLY as they follow Christ! We don’t ever follow after sin or any instruction that goes against God’s Word. Third John 1:11 warns us: “Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. He who does good is of God, but he who does evil has not seen God.”
WE SHOULD NOT LOOK LIKE THE WORLD! Proverbs 29:18 says, “When people do not accept divine guidance, they run wild. But whoever obeys the law is joyful.” Have you ever heard someone make excuses for a loved one or friend saying, “I know they lie, get wasted and sleep around BUT they love God.” Or “They’re a good person.” How about this one: “They have a good heart.” This is rampant deception! In John 14:15, KING JESUS said, “If you [really] love Me, you will keep (obey) My commands.” Third John 1:11 confirms, “Dear friend, don’t let this bad example influence you. Follow only what is good. Remember that those who do good prove that they are God’s children, and those who do evil prove that they do not know God.”
We should be the ones imitated NOT the ones who are imitating. As followers of Christ, we’re anointed to lead The Way. For those of you who are in a faith fight like us, we understand it’s tempting to follow the example of the world and take the easy way out when things look like they’re falling apart. But Hebrews 6:11-12 admonishes us to keep the faith: “We desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end, that you do not become sluggish, (the flesh is inherently lazy!) but IMITATE THOSE who through faith and patience inherit the promises.” As we patiently practice faith in word and deed, WE WILL receive what we believe—it’s guaranteed!
As you sow your faith seed this month, imitating The GREAT GIVER, (John 3:16) remember that patience is working with your faith to produce the promise of prosperity. Don’t “cast away your confidence, which has great REWARD.” (Hebrews 10:35-36) Your reward is on its way!!
We Love you and we are praying for you every day,
